Self Portrait – Alter Ego

The “Run DMC Self Portrait” & “Adidas Shoe”  were created in my Drawing Concepts ll class with Rob Clayton. The portrait was an assignment to “Draw as Identity” where we had to do a self-likeness, but as our “alter ego”. The shoe was “Drawing in Dimension” and it’s a reflection of my B-boy days as a white-suburbia hip hop dancer. Using floor vinyl as the material for the shoe, we would also layout the same material to dance on during or freestyle sessions in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Both are featured together in the Art Center College of Design student gallery during Fall semester 2010′. See the photo above.

Shoe: 22″x9″x7″ floor vinyl & mixed media
Portrait: 26″x39″ acrylic on paper

Give it up for the SLC. I guess we are where we are from. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be me. Toda.
